The museum acquired the two items nearly a century ago. “We want these events to be guided by the wishes of the nation,” she said in a phone interview following the ceremony. Valerie Huaco, deputy director of collections and research and chief innovation officer, said the museum has been doing repatriation work for 40 years but this event was unique because it was done with an audience at the request of the Poundmaker family. The family spoke of the significance of Poundmaker’s contributions to present-day Canada. Wednesday’s event included First Nations drumming and dancing as well as prayers from local Cree elders. The significance of being here and the honour it is to be able to bring these artifacts home. “I had a moment there where I couldn’t hold back the tears. The special moment was sacred and emotional, she said. It was the first time she got to see the two items in person. Pauline Poundmaker travelled this week from Saskatchewan to Toronto with nine others, including other direct descendants, to partake in a repatriation ceremony with staff at the museum. Under Poundmaker Cree Nation laws, descendants are required to initiate and lead repatriation. “It’s an honor to be the generation that’s able to bring these artifacts home,” she said in a phone interview. Pauline Poundmaker, or Brown Bear Woman, has been leading efforts to repatriate her great-great-grandfather’s belongings and sacred objects from collections held in Canada and internationally. The Toronto-based museum transferred a ceremonial pipe and a saddle bag that belonged to Chief Poundmaker back to members of his family on Wednesday. She's all glass and no cannon.Century old artifacts belonging to a 19th century Plains Cree chief who was known as a peacekeeper were returned to his descendants in a repatriation ceremony at the Royal Ontario Museum. And look, I get the rationale behind giving heavier characters at least 1 quick attack on par with an assassin light attack speed, but the implication makes her particular case worse than other assassins simply because of the lacking damage output/lack of openers against turtles who of course have a higher health pools/hyperarmor/uninterruptables/mix-up/safe whiffs (for some toons) on top of more damage. By comparison to other heros, she just tickles her foes and the risk/reward just isn't balanced especially given how quickly she consumes stamina. Sounds reasonable! So she can excel at hit-and-run very well and I enjoy picking my moments, and she can surprise gb or zone in as part of a 2v1, where her main strengths now seem to lie, but how is this any more efficient than someone who can just straight up kill?Īt the end of the day, she can compete but her kit is lacking. Let's talk about her zone - completely negated by holding block in the direction it starts, (which btw has allowed me to parry it) and react to everything else, which is even more of a head scratcher now that they nerfed her top heavy to be slower than a shug heavy (please correct me if I'm wrong - I think Shug is now 800ms). Other than that though, her bleed is fun but mostly garbo except for the gb gutstab.good luck getting a gb. She could really use an unblockble - if she gets options, I think the conversation stops here. The lack of pressure other people talk about is related to her struggle opening up defensive players. I love playing PK and have had some monster games, but I feel her biggest issue is that she's relegated to being a pest and she's just genuinely outclassed. There is no flow to her moveset and it is incredibly weak, a good pk will still take forever to kill you either whittling away at your hp or waiting for bleed to kill you. Having 400 ms attacks does not make a hero good. She has zero pressure as you can just block everything she has, and even if she gets some bleed you'll likely have revenge by then and can just get rid of it, unless its in duels. It takes forever to kill anyone as pk, the only good damage she has is from bleed, the gb kidney stab especially, but it's super easy to counter. Her zone still eats a lot of stamina, and the feint into top light is a free parry, the heavy feint into top bleed is also easy to parry if you are paying attention. Her attacks are also weaker than Valkyrie, who's heavies are already laughably weak. She has 2 attack chains that are bad and the predictable soft-feints end them. Not S tier, but Peacekeeper is still relatively good. She also has a soft feint into guardbreak and a soft feint into dodge to prevent her offense from being punished.
